Abstract Submission
We invite researchers, practitioners, policymakers, students, and community partners to contribute to the MUT Conference on Scholarship of Engagement (SoE) 2025 by submitting abstracts for consideration. Please adhere to the following guidelines carefully to ensure your submission meets the conference requirements and facilitates the review process.

All submitted abstracts should not be more than 300 words and should follow the guidelines provided below:
Title: The title should be concise and aligned to the theme/subthemes and overall SoE.
Author(s):Â Start with surname and follow with name and affiliations.
Keywords: Maximum 5
Introduction and Problem Statement. Provide a brief introduction and statement of the research problem or gap in literature.
Methodology: Describe the research design adopted for the study.
Results/Findings and Discussion(s). Present findings of the study with discussion(s).
Conclusions and Recommendations. There should be a summary of the research and how it applies to policy on the adoption of SoE.
We offer flexibility in presentation formats to accommodate diverse needs:
- Format: Options for both Oral and Poster presentations are available. Please indicate your preference during submission, although the final format will be determined by the Scientific Committee.
Mode: Options for ONLINE presentations (via Zoom/Teams) and OFFLINE presentations (either in-person or potentially via pre-recorded video with live Q&A – clarify offline recorded option if applicable) are available. Please indicate your intended mode of attendance during submission.
- Review Process: All submitted abstracts will undergo a blind peer-review process conducted by the Scientific Committee. Assessment is based on originality (including a plagiarism check), completeness according to these guidelines, clarity, and relevance to the conference theme/sub-themes. Authors will be provided with feedback.Â
- Certificates & Awards: A certificate of presentation will be issued to registered participants who present at the conference. Awards will be presented for the best session papers, posters, and workshops based on criteria such as content relevance, engagement, innovation, and audience feedback.
- Publication Opportunities: All accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Book of Abstracts. Accepted full papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Furthermore, selected high-quality extended papers may be considered for publication in the following affiliated journals (subject to the journals’ own peer-review processes):
- African Journal of Higher Education Community Engagement
- South African Journal of Higher Education
Anticipated Conference Outputs: Journal articles, book of abstracts, presentations (slides/posters), workshops, case studies, community engagement projects/programs, artifacts, and media releases.
Abstracts and full papers must be submitted in either Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx) or Adobe PDF (.pdf) format.
